Love thy neighbor

COVID vaccines are among the safest and most effective therapies we possess to reduce the burden of disease. They save lives, limit virus transmission, and protect those around us who are vulnerable to severe illness.

Keeping up with your COVID vaccines is one of the best ways you can spread love in your community.

How COVID-19 vaccines have helped

Vaccinations, also called immunizations, are among the most important public health advances in the last century, protecting children and adults from diseases that can cause serious illness or death. The development and availability of coronavirus vaccines was a turning point in the COVID-19 pandemic.

It's estimated that in just two years since COVID vaccines became available (December 2020 to November 2022), 120 million coronavirus infections, 657 million hospitalizations, and 3.2 million deaths associated with COVID-19 were averted in America because of vaccination. This number grows every day as more and more people become vaccinated and boosted.

Coupled with the availability of successful treatments, the reduction in COVID-19 morbidity and mortality due to vaccination is a huge reason we are able to resume in-person schooling, community get-togethers, and reconnect with our family and friends in the ways we had before the pandemic.

Still, nearly 400 Americans are dying Every. Single. Day. from COVID-19. These deaths are largely preventable. For many families, the disease and effects of the pandemic remain very much part of everyday life.

For these reasons, keeping up with our vaccinations and addressing each other's questions about the vaccine are ways we can spread love throughout our state. For more information about the vaccine and eligibility, visit NDSU Center for Immunization Research & Education or contact us.
